I thought of Abbott and Costello, too. But I wasn't sure. I think Moe of the Three Stooges might have said it too. Ralph Kramden was just the only one I was sure of.
It probably was first said in the 19th century, like "Sock it to him" (Laugh In, a 60s show, but Mark Twain used the expression in "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court".) Probably Mark Twain or Ring Lardner used it in a book and comedians picked it up by accident.
