First, ECT is 80% effective and has been around 30 some years. ECT has to be done in a hospital, requires anesthesia, and clients suffer some short term memory loss which generally is transient. You generally need 6-12 treatments with occasional boosters for efficacy. Did you ever consider transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment for depression. It is an excellent alternative to ECT.
