God give me the patience to speak gently.
There is a clear and unmistakable difference between Christianity and every other religion that ever existed: what we believe is real!
"That which is born of flesh is flesh. That which is born of spirit is spirit." The difference is utterly simple and utterly undeniable: Christians really are born again! No one else can say that. No one.
What happens when a person is 1/3 dead? Will you awaken that dead third with magic incantations or readings from the Vedas?
Try all your life and you will find that you have memorized all those lines and still, that third of you that you were supposed to bring alive, is still dead.
Christians are unique in that we asked God to bring that dead third of us alive! He did! We can attest to that fact each from a powerful and unmistakable event that changed our very essence, and left no question whatsoever!
Religion is memorizing words, but faith is to bring that which was dead, alive!
Never underestimate the power of a living spirit! Your enlivened spirit really does connect to infinity! It is as real as infinity and just as powerful.
All living things have a will of their own -- that is how you know it is truly alive! The born-again experience will bring that part of you which was dead, alive, and there is just no way to contain a connection to infinity!
So, you could call the Christian life the most expensive religion that ever was, because it really will take everything you are and change you around -- to someone who is infinitely better and stronger than you could have imagined before. All of a sudden, you realize that all your wealth means nothing, no matter how much you have or how little.
You cease to be the owner. You become the steward. And then, you will be amazed how much you are willing to give, not for a tax write off, but from an awakened human spirit. You don't just look at the other guy's misery or joy -- you feel it. You don't just look at the beggar with a cardboard sign and automatically hand him everything in your wallet -- you feel something about him, that he is trying to make an indecent profit from falsely claiming that he is in need.
You may never be able to explain it, but when you come awake spiritually, you don't need to. It changes you. It makes you genuinely whole.
