Could tightening your muscles while standing still, help them warm up?

Yes, but don't forget to move these joints. Combine some movement in your warm-ups. Another method I really like, especially before running, is to rub major muscles like the quads or the hamstring. High friction will generate some heat, part of it will be absorbed in your muscles. A great addition to your warm up.

Then, does it matter which one I do before the other - tightening muscles first, then joint rotations or vice versa?
