Best way to repair spot water damage/stains on ...

Best way to repair spot water damage/stains on inside ceiling and walls? Heavy rains found their way into a valley on my roof line. I have some drywall peeling on my ceiling and water staining on the wall beneath. The area is not large, but will the entire ceiling and wall need to be repainted for a good color match? The house is only 2 years old, so the paint is relatively fresh. How should I repair the peeling corner?

First test the sheetrock with a small pocket screwdriver. Using moderate pressure press at the stained areas.  If the sheetrock gives in that section will have to be replaced.  If it tests solid, it will have to be covered with a GOOD primer before you paint. The best primer for water stains is white pigmented shellac, such as Zinser. Zinser's white latex (water base) primer is another excellent choice, but you should give it two coats to prevent 'bleed thruough' of the stain. I've used other brands and they don't even come close to doing the same job.

If you dont Know for Sure Always ask for help even if you have to Swallow your Pride

Hello, you could possibly use a stickey spray i forget what the kind is i've used but if you use adhesive spray underneath make sure 1st it's dry,if not use a hair dryer and dry the area.then tape around and paper off around where your spraying the adhesive spray behind where it's peedel amd then slowly tane a cloth or something like a sponge and starting from the bottom edge slowly start to push upwards with a towel etc.so that it dosent wrinkel or have lumps if you use a towel you could press against it starting at the bottom of where it's peeled off the cieling/wall itself and preccing hard push upward toward where the edge is where it origionally split away.Jim
