Is it the type you nail down? I see where you put down the plastic under the wood and then put the prefinished wood down.(not nail down) And I saw where they again put down a heavy felt paper down and the glue the nail down type to the floor. Or like you say put the plywood down and place floor over it. I like this one better myself. I guess it depends on money and how much room you need. If it needs to match aganist another floor then the wood might make it too high.
