Eric, My Oakwood manufactured home is having a lot of breaks at the water line joints. The water lines and joints are made from a gray plastic. What product(s) would you suggest to use in replacing all the lines, joints, cut-offs, etc. Thanks. Jerry Edwards Asheville, NC jerrynasheville69@charter.net

Take time to relax!!!  Go fly a kite!

Replac the lines with New white PVC lines the old lines were made of DWV plastic and didn't react well to chlorinated water. Otherwise get out a BIG shop vac for the flood soon to occur.

"If you don't have time to do it right the 1st time where will find time you to do it the 2nd"

The Grey waterline is polybutylene. The fittings used are barbed grey with either aluminum or copper crimp bands .as long as your waterlines are not developing pin holes in the tubing itself you can replace all of the fittings with flair-it brand  or sharkbite. flair-it being the cheaper can be obtained from a Mfg Housing parts store in your area. sharkbites at local building supply house. If you want or must replace tubeing polyethelene(PEX) is the replacement same stores will carry this.  Pex is freeze and burst resistant and is used in most sitebuilt and commercial plumbing.Where as pvc or cpvc being cheapest can freeze and burst and is also suject to chemical deterioration. hope this helps

Those grey colored water lines that you speak of are a joke ! . I mean complete garbage . They become more brittle with age . They do not do well in the winter temperatures at all . The only product that I would trust to replace those water lines is called " PEX " tubing . It is available in coil and and straight sticks . You can find it at your local super centers like, Lowes, Menards, and Home Depot . It is a tough durable product that will take the freezing temperatures of a frigid winter and not split . The skirting on manufactured homes are not adequit protection when it comes to keeping out the cold winter elements . Use the pex tubing and you will replace it once, and be done with it for good ! .
