Messages that are read but not saved or "Kept as New" expire after 30 days. To make sure messages stay indefinitely, either:

1) Mark the message as "Keep as New"

2) Save the message to one of your Saved on AOL folders, where an unlimited amount can be saved

In this case, please make sure to also check you "Old Mail" folder to make sure those messages are not there.
