do i need to refrigerate your red velvet cake once it has been frosted with the suggested cream cheese and whipped cream frosting?  thank you.  i love red velvet cake but am looking for a great frosting recipe.

Hi!

I always make sure I keep anything like frosting with dairy in it in the fridge otherwise it can go bad quite quickly... Anyway the red velvet cake recipe on allrecipes is a nice one, here's a link to it, good luck!

I bought a beautiful red velvet cake for my birthday, the woman who owns the bakery said not to put it in the fridge because that makes the soft cream icing harden and be less tasty.

Since only half of the cake was eaten, I tried putting the rest in the fridge in a tupperwear,  and indeed, the frosting hardened and the cake dried.

I guess they just don't last that long...
