Hi,

I'm making a kind of a survey among teachers around the world. I would like to know:

1 - How may hours you work (in the school)per month?

2 - How many classes do you teach?

3 - How many grades do you teach?

4 - What is our monthly wage? What is the minimum wage in your country?

5 - What is your level of satisfaction as a teacher (1 to 5, being 5 a complete satisfaction)?

You don't have to answer all the quastions, if you don't know or if you don't want to.

Thank you very much for your time.

Helena

Hi.

I work in the sunny Okanagan in Enderby, Bristish Columbia, Canada.  Our school days begin at 8:50am and end at 3:15pm each day.  I am not required to teach any courses outside of the timetable, so I teach roughly 6 hours a day, with a 1 hour lunch break from 12-1.  I  teach FSL (French as a Second Language) to grades 8-12 in high school.  The students are aged 13-18.

I am payed a salary of 40,000 dollars a year, over the 10 school months.  Our minimum wage is different everywhere across Canada, but here in BC where it's almost the highest, it's 8$ an hour.  I heard it will be going up to 8.75$ an hour before this year is out.

Being a new teacher  (I graduated in 2005), I love my job, but I struggle financially, as it cost me 80,000.00$ in student loans to get my eduaction.  Half my paycheck every month goes to paying off this debt.

Hi,

I teach English in Poland, 20 hours per week (+ the grading at home and some extra meetings). I teach 4th,5th,6th grades. My monthly wage is quite ridiculous - around 330 euros.

My level of satisfaction - 3.

Not sure of minimum wage.

Here are my answers:

1 - How may hours you work (in the school)per month?

about 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 4 weeks a month

total:  160 per month  (but that's what I get paid for - teachers always put in more time than what's on their paycheck!  haha.)

2 - How many classes do you teach?

I teach 6 classes + 1 duty (study hall)

3 - How many grades do you teach?

I teach only 6th grade.

4 - What is your monthly wage? What is the minimum wage in your country?

I get paid about $57,000 per year, so about $4750 a month.  I've been teaching for 8 years, though, so I guess starting teachers would be getting about $2800 per month.

5 - What is your level of satisfaction as a teacher (1 to 5, being 5 a complete satisfaction)?

I love teaching.  It's true that some days are better than others, and some classes are better than others.

Overall, though, I would say I'm completely satisfied - 5.

Teachers without education degrees are better than teachers with them.

This verifies what I've said before in other threads. Education would be improved if teachers were chosen based on their academic abilities instead of on their having a degree in education. I think
