I live in a very safe, quiet neighborhood- my kids are bused to the opposite side of town in huntington station where drugs, violence and gangs are rampant- the school board, and town officials all agree that this school is in an unsafe area- there is another school in the district. Do I have any rights to that school- which is actually in my neighborhood?

I can't give you an answer to your question, but I can tell you that if I was in your situation, I would fight as hard as I could to get my children in the school in the district. Regardless of whether they have any rights to go to that school or not. If the school board is already agreeing that the other school is in an unsafe area, and the school is farther away from where you live, how could they possibly deny your children attending the better and closer school.
