What to do with the edge of a bread loaf?

Every week I buy a loaf of bread. The bread is sliced and packed in a bag. Every weekend I find myself throwing out the edges of the loaf. Nobody like to eat them. Maybe because of the shape I have no idea. I hate throwing away food, which is for some stupid reason not eaten. I am looking for some creative ideas , to what to do with the slices of the bread loaf edge?

Hi

grind it up in a food processor and make breadcrumbs

take the two edges from the package, and freeze them in a plastic freezer bag. When you have one freezer bag full, it's time to make lots of recipes as bread pudding, bread salad, croutons and stuffing for example

take care

I know I don't know it all

Check my google webpage

Elinoar got it right.

And let me add:

* Make Crouton Floats by melting goats-cheese on up-side-down slices of toasted bread ends. Floats the cheese toasts on a bowl of onion/mushroom/chestnut/squash soup/ crab bisque or chowder.

* Soak the bread and mash it into your favorite hamburger mix for a fluffier burger, or blend with similar quantities of water, tomatoes, onions and bell peppers for gazpacho soup.

* Send it to me, I love the ends...

* Or just feed the birds in your yard or nearby park

I use the dry edges when I make meatballs, The bread is squished into small pieces and the added to your mixture of meat garlic ,parsley chopped onion and your seasoning . It will give your meatballs an excellent texture.

Hi Momi,

Of-course Breadcrumbs is the first solution which comes to ones mind to your question.

Alternatively, you can make a great snack which my mum used to make when we were kids. Here's the recipe-

Crush the edges of bread into smaller pieces(not crumbs)

Fry some onions in any of yr favorite cooking oils(I use sunflower oil)

Put the bread pieces in and fry for 5-7 mins.

Add two pinches of Turmeric Powder (gr8 for health & easily available at any Indian Spice Store)

Add some salt and sugar to taste. And that's it!

We loved this one. Hope u like it too Smile

P.S. Found this gr8 link related to left over bread & edges. Click Here
