What is easy viewer/saver for video clips? formater

I wanted to purchase a player for formating my movie recordings that I take on my cannon digital camera- they are little shorts- so that I can post them, send them to people, but I read the reviews for the Quicktime and they said it won't do the format conversions, and alot of people were really unhappy.When I try to llok at alternatives, I just get overwhelmed because I don't know what alot of the brands and jargon and capabilities are right now.  I am trying to catch up, but you can't learn it all, can you?

No day in which you learn something is a complete loss.

If you use Windows, the simplest free solution is to use the Windows Movie Maker. Chances are you already have it installed but you can click here to update it to the latest version. It's perfect for simple edits of short clips and you can save them using the WMV format.

Another good software for novices is Cyberlink's power producer that supports multiple formats as well as direct uploading to youtube and  has other features though it costs 70$.

Try to use vegas or avid actually adobe premiere for me are much better but more complicated from that you can fix and enhance at the same time all of your videos...
