In my personal experience, it is usually the man who will immediately react with indignation since men's problem solving mechanisms often (not always) differ from those of women.   It seems that women tend to react more from a place of hurt feelings AT FIRST, and a need to be re-assuring to their spouse/partner in order to soothe his doubts or hurt feelings; but if her attempts are constantly disregarded or disbelieved,  a woman will..... just like a man.... get to the point of saying 'screw it then'.  And THEN you see that self-righteous anger pop.  And once that threshold gets crossed, you've got one pi***d off woman!   Something to think about...good luck and hope this helps.
