I have dry skin, but extremely dry and sometimes pealing eye lids. i have tried every thing but have been unsuccessful in treating this. i have been to the doctors several times. they say it may be exema, or an allergic reaction to something. either way, have not yet been able to find a cure for it. my eye lids are extremely itchy most of the day, and the creams help to reduce the amount of itching, but doesnt do anything for the dryness of the skin. has anyone had this problem before? what have you done to solve it?
Great hair is a must!
While I personally have never had this problem, I'd think a thicker lotion, such as body butter, would do the trick in relieving the dryness on your eyelids. Good luck.
This sounds like it may not be just dry skin, but rather excema, which is dry, scaley skin that can be on the eyelids. Excema is often allergy-related, food or environment. Many people with excema are allergic to dairy products. You may want to check this out with your health practitioner for an effective cream.
I had this problem before, and I went through the same thing you have. I went to a skin doctor in Los Angeles, that gave me a shot. I can't remember the name of the shot. But ever since then, I haven't had that problem.
I currently have this same problem. I like you haven't been having much luck with curring it. I think I have found something that appears to be helping. I started putting it on my eye about a week ago and it is starting to look normal again. It is called Lysin a type of vitamin, it comes in a small bottle kind of looks like petroleum jelly or vasiline.

I had the same problem with itchy and dry eye lids plus my eyes would get really puffy. I got rid of all my old makeup, stayed away from holding my cat really close to my face and bought Visine-A (for alergies) eye drops. That seemed to do the trick. Hadn't had any problems since. Good Luck...
Every now and then my eyelids will become red, scaly, and itchy. I noticed it started when I moved into my new house, which has a lot of brushed nickel finishes. I think it's possible I am allergic to the nickel, but I don't know for sure. Anyway, I have developed a very effective routine for dealing this problem. I hope it will work for you, also.
The first thing I do is wet a washcloth with lukewarm water and gently scrub away the flakes from my eyelids. Next, I apply only a very thin layer of Target brand (I'm sure any drugstore brand will do) 1%hydrocortisone anti-itch creme (with aloe and vitamin E) to my eyelids. For whatever reason, if I use too much it just doesn't work. On days when my eyelids are fine, I use a certain Nivea creme product. I found it at Walgreen's, and it is in a small round blue tin that costs about 1 dollar. I use that on my eyelids and on the skin underneath my eyes. It's very soothing and does not irritate my skin at all.
Of course, just be careful not to get either product in your eyes, and don't use the hydrocortisone creme any more often than necessary.
I always think it's such a good idea to see a doctor, too. Good luck!
I have had itchy eyelids, with a dry area that had thickened slightly. I tried triple antibiotic ointment, only to make it worst. I finally went to a Dermatologist, it turned out to be a rash of some sort. The ointment actually was food for this rash. He prescribed Hydrocortisone cream twice a day. I put a small amount on with a q-tip, keep away from the edge of eyelid. It may have a slight burn to it, it goes away quickly. Give it about 2 weeks to clear, but if this is similar, you should feel a significant difference in 2-3 days.
