I think  if the hair is correctly matted and groomed it looks very attractive. However, I think that if it is worn for the right reasons, the symbol is more important than the appearance.

I think that they are very attractive, they bring out a person's natural side which is absolutely beautiful. I have been growng locks for 6yrs and I love it!  They are so versatile, you can do just about anything with them.  However, some folks in corporate america don't think too highly of it, but as long as they are always neet and professional looking it shouldn't be a problem.

6 thumbs up

Personality can open doors, but only character can keep them open.

On certain people they can look fantastic. As long as they are kept clean. There is no excuse for a person NOT to wash them, there are special hair products made especially for dreadlocks.

For those who have no clue about hygiene, their dreadlocks smell and are really very ugly! Ugh!!!!

4 thumbs up

I think dreads look okay if they are skinny, the super thick ones tend to overpower people.  I have seen many people with dreads who are beautiful but the dreads were the only thing that you noticed.

I dated a guy with beautiful shoulder length hair and he chose to have dreads  after a while.  It looked okay on him, and he kept them washed, but it was not very pleasant to the touch, and made it hard to be close to his face without feeling scratchy or getting whapped by them if he turned his head too quickly.  Plus, I missed the feel of his hair.

I think even if your style is different, it is not neccessary to go extreme in your hairstyle or clothing; your cool attitude and energy will come through even if you dress more "mainstream".  I get the whole thing about the "energy" of the hair, but sometimes people miss out on who you are if they keep staring at the dreads.  Smile
