Bob Marley and Reggae Artists and Remix Contests have made dreadlocks very popular and mainstream today.  One's hair is his crowning glory so yes dreads are beautiful on both sexes.  All it takes to gain acceptance for a style is for someone famous to endorse it.  With endorsement comes acceptance and then before you can say "jack robin", it's mainstream and mad popular.  Dreadlocks "beautiful hair", "beautiful people"!
