What dose this make you think?

I saw this video a few years ago and it changed my outlook on things, so I wanted to know what other Yedites thought of it:

Carl Sagan was a wonderful man --- bright, warm, and intelligent --- who passed too quickly from this world. Michael Joel Held

This makes me think: "What a glorious pale blue dot!"

It also makes me think:  Asking a human to explain God is like asking an ant to explain the internet.

Thank you for posting this EJ.  I have placed it in my favorites and will watch all the interviews.  Carl Sagan was a very interesting fellow.  NJOY

The video shows the relatively small position we hold in the universe, and then goes on to show how we, on this tiny planet, face the task of living in a myriad ways. For a while there, it implies the foolishness of our customs and behaviours. A lot of people could take this as an invitation to drop out and seek higher meanings. This is good. I think Shakespeare said - the world's but a stage, and we're all just players in it. This is true. But does it justify complete withdrawal from life's many librettos ? Not if you watch it all the way through. In the Bible is says : " Lord, what is man that you are mindful of him...you have made him a little lower than the angels..." Passive observer, seeking peace and truth, and active doer, enmeshed in the contingecies of his time and place...I believe that both these options add to the human dimension. And that it is good that we be shown the almost absolute relativity of these choices.

Thank you for sharing that with me, Elijah.  It was beautiful, touching, reverential, inspiring, frightening, hopeful.  What does it make me think??  I'm not sure yet.  I only know that it does make me think.

The lowest servant in Heaven is still in Heaven.

Whoever rules in hell is still in hell, but they won't rule for long.

Apparently, none of you people ever had a long series of run-ins with the acerbic Dr. Sagan.  He was a shrewd manipulator, I will give him that.  But the way he treated others who hoped to enter the scientific community was a blot on the name of science.

You people will soon enough discover that charisma only masks a treacherous individual whom you must not trust.  And a seemingly gruff exterior usually conceals a heart of gold.

Until you people get over your hangups about appearances, you will be the victims of treacherous people like Carl Sagan.

Rockmike3, you evidently hold a unique position among the few of us who have commented here, because you said in a former post (which would not show up for EJ and Njoy. We got the dreaded Oops page), that you knew Mr. Sagan personally and that he was responsible for you and a few others losing their jobs because you dared to suggest another theory.

I, for one, am extremely interested in hearing more from you on this subject, if Yedda will let you post it.  Do you think you can engage us here on this subject with your unique knowledge about Dr. Sagan without losing your post to never never land?  I certainly hope you can.
