A foolish heart will call on you to toss your dreams away, then turn around and blame you for the way you went astray. - Grateful Dead, Foolish Heart

You can take your dog for training even if she is only one year old.  I wouldn't wait much longer.  If not, you can find ways to punish her.  Put her in a kennel every time you see it, or keep her in the kennel all day unless you are with her.  Every time she goes outside, reward her and make a big deal out of it.  Also, yell and get angry when she goes inside, but make sure she knows why you are angry, show her the poop and yell NOOOOOOO.

Fool me once,

shame on you!!

Fool me twice,shame on me!

i had the same problem, what i did was put newspaper down in a corner of the house next the door, when my dog would poop on it,i would say"good boy"then i would take clean newspaper and put it outside and as soon as i fed him,i'd take him to the newspaper,it worked!of course we had accidents and i would yell at him every time he'd poop inside[it took me 6 months]but eventually he caught on what he had to do!you need to have a lot of patience and to make sure that you always take him out several times a day in the beginning, eventually they will wait for you to come home to be taken out to do their business!but as soon as you come home, take her out!remember, once she has learned to poop outside, the poor thing will be holding it in,so take her out at least 3 times a day to do her business!

1 y/o is pretty marginal. Most dogs become house trained by this time, though some might need a few more weeks.

I think there's little point in punishing your dog, yelling at her or forcing her to smell her own feces. She knows it's there, she has to learn that there are places where she can go.

I suggest using a carrying cage. Make sure it's the right size for her. Make it a happy place for her, feed her there, play with her there, get her to know the cage. When you're out of the house, put her in the cage. Make sure you take her out to play every few hours.

Most dogs wouldn't go in the place where they sleep and eat. Gradually she will learn that the entire house is her living area.

I agree with whitelady, you can also try keeping the dog outside for longer periods of time to it gets used too doing the doo outside.

Bowel movement and urination is trainable. You have to watch your dogs habits. We take our dogs out like clock work. They eat, they go out, they drink they go out, they play they go out. I bring them in right away so they understand this is what they are expected to do.  I dont believe in leaving food bowels filled up all day or water. This way I control their eliminating. When we go out to play its for play. Have to have some order with 4 labs lol. Good luck
