Go to one of the large pet supply stores; they make wipes specifically for this purpose. I have a Papillon and his eyes are teary; which tends to make dark stains on the white areas of his face. The wipes soothe the eye, remove irritants, remove tear stains, and removes the crusty junk that can accumulate.
