If you mean what color in terms of what goes well with your new living room furniture, I suggest you give up the notion of having a pet. Pets are known to shed hair (which may not be pleasant no matter what color they are 
), cats are not always considerate of your feelings and your upholstery and dogs have been known to gnaw on legs. And this is only a partial list...
If you want to choose a color assuming that it has implications on the pet behavior, it's really more a myth than anything else.
So the only color that works, is the color that works for you...
PS, you might be surprised how little it matters once you meet the right pet for you...
