How do I get doctors at a county hospital to treat my gallbladder disease?

I stopped eating most animal protein, and now I just eat it occasionally. This is in addition to trying other home remedies, such as flushes and apple juice to ease the pain and other symptoms associated with gallstones.

In July 2006, went to the ER with complaints of abdominal pain. I thought it was from peptic ulcer disease, which I have. However, the doctor told me I had gallbladder disease. She just did a physical examination, pressing on my right upper abdomen. I was told by a doctor in a clinic in September 2006, that this hospital only treats this problem with surgery and I had to go through the ER for that. I told him I didn't want surgery at this point.

August 2007, went to the walk-in clinic complaining of lower abdominal pain. After an exam, I was given my chart and directed to the ER for removal of the gallbladder by surgery. This wasn't the pain I was complaining about, which I found out later was from Irritable Bowel Disease. I still did not think the pain from the gallstones was so bad that I needed surgery. Instead of going to the ER, I left.

In October 2008, with severe pain on the right upper abdomen and the left upper abdomen, I went to the ER. The pain was Now bad enough that I wanted the gallbladder out. However, after testing, I was told I did not need surgery. It was written on the report that I do not have gallstones. I asked what would cause these symptoms. The doctor said he didn't know. He told me I had to go to a PCP to try to find out.

I've been trying to get a PCP since then, without luck. I keep getting the run-around.  You need a referral from a doctor. Doctor told me to call. You need a referral. Doctor never gives me the "referral" the folks in the call center insist I need to have. So what can I do? I still have the symptoms and I still have trouble eating most things with fat including nuts and other non-animal fats. Frown

If you have money or health insurance, see an internist and say you want a gallbladder removed.  Bad ones cause a bundle of problems that you can easily live without and it's a relatively ordinary operation.  The doctor will make some money so he will admit you to the hospital.  Cynical, aren't I?
