I have no water in my kitchen sink and dishwasher ...

I have no water in my kitchen sink and dishwasher but have water everywhere else, bathrooms, toilets, icemaker, etc. How is this possible? And, what can I do to fix it? We have checked already to make sure that the valves are on under the sink and they are. We had normal water pressure in the early morning but by the evening we had no water.

sounds like the shut off valves are closed under the sink.

Man of many visions and many people

Check the two valves under sink to see if they are cut off

We did check the valves and yes they are on. At 5:00 a.m. yesterday, we had normal water pressure but by 7:00 a.m. the water pressure had dropped. By yesterday evening, we had no water but only in the kitchen sink and dishwasher. Everything else works fine. Thanks for the suggestion though.

that is very strange that both the hot and the cold water would both stop at once.  It can't just be the faucet, because the dishwasher would still work.  I can see a pipe getting clogged (especially if you still have galvanized pipe) but not two separate pipes at once.

Is it possible that you have a pair of shut offs somewhere else, like directly below the kitchen in the basement that some one might have turned off?

Thanks so much for your input. We really appreciate anything that might help.

We don't have a basement so that can't be it and there are no other valves that we know of. Neither of us turned it off and we were the only ones home at the time. Could it be the dishwasher since it hooks into the same line as the sink and those are the only 2 items without water?

P.S. By the way, we don't have galvanized pipe.

Thanks Again!

How did you solve this? Today, I discovered I have the same problem!

Turns out that the valve inside the actual faucet was completely stuck so we had to replace the whole thing...faucet, handles and sprayer. Apparently, when this little valve at the inside base of the faucet stuck, it was blocking all water from passing through. As far as the dishwasher, it was a fluke that the food trap needed to be cleaned out. Since doing this, we have not had any problems. Total cost was 49.98, for the Pfister faucet at Lowes. Good luck. Hope this helps.

By the way, the faucet that we had to replace was about 6 years old.

Turns out that the valve inside the faucet that opens and closes for the sprayer hose, got stuck closed so no water could pass through. My husband removed it and tried to restore it to the correct position but it would absolutely not budge. We ended up going to Lowes and purchasing a new Price Pfister faucet (49.98). As far as the dishwasher goes, the food trap just needed cleaning. Once the faucet was replaced and the food trap cleaned out, both have worked just beautifully. The faucet that we had to replace was about 6 years old so I guess it was just time. Hope this helps someone else out there with the same situation.

Good Luck,
