what type of hinges can I use to attach awning windows to side jamb/frame I also need instruction - have found simple hook hinges but need installation guide -what else can I use -need installation guide for any alternatives ?

If by "awning windows" you mean shutters- exterior panels that are mounted to the casings of windows and swing open or shut like doors- then the hook hinges that you have may be the perfect hinge for this use. Are they cast iron, with one side that has a tall spike with tiny fins and the other side rings with a slot for the fins? That's the kind of hinge we use in the South on traditional shutters- they lock against removal when fully open. When closed, the shutters fit inside the frame of the window. The hinges I'm referring to are mortised into the edges of the shutter and window frame, just like a door's hinges would be mortised into its frame.
