I was married in 2005 and the divorce papers were filed in 2006. I recevied papers stating that the divorce was final on September 9,2006 our we divorce?

I am pretty sure that you are divorced. Normally when something is considered final, it means that it is over.

Yes, you are officially divorced.  Hang on to that piece of paper.  It's your divorce decree.  You should be getting an official looking piece of paper that looks like a diploma saying it's your divorce decree.  In Maryland, the person who files for divorce usually will get the certificate in gold; the other one will get a xerox copy of it.

Yes, so go and celebrate or seek support if this is your first divorce as some do struggle from it. If not, enjoy the freedom but don't make another dumb mistake and say I do when you're actually saying I don't. You cannot be a bouncing ball with emotions.
