How do I remove the lower spray arm in my maytag ...

how do I remove the lower spray arm in my maytag (mdb6000awb)dishwasher?  there's a plastic piece in the center but I don't know if it screws in to hold the spray arm in place or not.  I don't want to break it.  I just want to remove the arm to get rid of the calcium buildup blocking the spray holes.
