since a large variety of businesses requires photograpy in some form it is important for photographers to market themselves in the right way and to send out the right portfolios to the businesses of their choice. However this is not as easy as it seems as you need to decide how much time and money you are going to spend on marketing yourself. When you see a huge picture of apple's new iPod or the new computer they just came out with, they don't necessarily have to say anything.  They are advertising via showing their product, via photography.  This is done a lot in New York City on huge billboards.

Put it all together, and you can have an infinite permutation of marketing strategies can generate business. Despite what some might say, there is no one-size-fits-all marketing strategy.
