Live shows are supposed to be more authentic, so the lighting is less filtered, and seemingly more "natural". You're not supposed to be able to control and change direct sunlight, so live shows are lit with harsher lighting.
The switch in pseudo live shows to different lighting is probably just an echo of this practice (though in all fairness lightning probably is pretty difficult to get completely under control while shooting live).
The search for people who can answer your question continues for as long as needed - until you find the answer you were looking for.
