First of all, Wushu and Kung Fu are Chinese martial arts. Tae Kwon Do is from Korea and Karate originated in Japan.

Among these martial arts, there are similarities in some physical appearance but the mental aspect is quite different. Very much like the Chinese, Korean and Japanese look alike and yet the language and culture are very different.

Each martial art is unique in its own way. Each has its own beauty in movements and philosophy. How to choose the one you like is all based on personal needs and preference.

Another difference is in the form of the arts. Chinese martial arts tend to be characterized by more fluid circular motions while the Japanese and Korean tend to be more rigid and linear.

Karate is a martial arts style from Japan that is based on a combination of JuJutsu and Okinawan Te.  Karate (the name) was formed to mean "Empty hand" by a council of masters led by

FUNAKOSHI GICHIN.  The "empty" in this phrase is the mind not the hand.  WuShu is not really a martial art.  When  China became communinst they destroyed the martial arts and reformed them into WuShu, which is little more than a dance and nothing like the orignial forms.  To check the validity of martial arts, goto the Bullshido.net website.
