what is the difference between Manga and Anima?
I can be altruistic. when it suits me.
Basically,
Manga is the japanese word for "comics" or graphic novel.
Anime' is the word used to describe japanese animation.
That said, "Manga" usually reffers to japanese graphic novels, with their inherited and unuique style & vision.
One could argue that "Anime" is animated-manga.
chk out wikipedia on both:

Manga: a type of Japanese comic book, on paper, completely still, no animation or sound added. Anime: a Japanese TV cartoon, with animation and sound .
Both manga and anime have been developed to the point of being an art form
Manga refers to comics and Anime are animated films.
Manga is Japanese for "comics" and anime is a Japanese loanword (AKA the sound is taken and transcribed into the Japanese syllabary) for "animation." In the USA, manga is usually Japanese comics. Likewise, anime is regarded as Japanese cartoons, like Yuu Yuu Hakusho, Spirited Away, Full Metal Alchemist, etc. Most of the time, anime is the "animated" version of the manga.
manga Manga (??, Manga?) is the Japanese word for comics and print cartoons. Outside of Japan, it usually refers specifically to Japanese comics. Manga developed from a mixture of ukiyo-e and Western styles of drawing, and took its current form shortly after World War II. It comes mainly in black and white, except for the covers and sometimes the first few pages. 2nd English edition of InuYasha Vol. 1 manga graphic novel. (Manga is sometimes mistakenly called "anime" even when not animated.) Adapted stories are often modified to appeal to a more mainstream market. Although not as common, original anime is sometimes adapted into manga (such as Neon Genesis Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop).

A popular and self-explanatory article, helpful to newer fans of anime...helped me get into other titles besides Akira and Ghost in the Shell, both animes (toons) based on manga (comics).

News and thoughts on manga, anime, games, and everything else that's Japanese popular culture at 夜風記.
To be honest,"anime" (not "anima") and "manga" are the Japanese words for cartoon and comic, respectively (ranging from Dragonball to Donald Duck), but outside Japan, the words have gotten a slightly different meaning.
Manga is Japanese comics which carry a special style of art (though not all manga looks the same) that also goes by the name "manga;" however, it does not have to be drawn by either a Japanese or in Japan.
Anime is the animated form of manga, cartoons made with the manga art style. Funny trivia: anime is the first part of the Japanese transliteration of the English word "animation."
