I am so sick of people who can not think for themselves. Everyone just repeats what they have been told by mass media. Eat 5 to 6 meals a day blah blah blah. Bull S&#%. They have proved so far that 5 to 6 meals a day does no more for fat loss than having 3 meals. We are still waiting for better all around studies of the 1 meal a day system. Search for The Warrior Diet, which looks at how the Romans and Greeks lived and how you can eat one meal a day to live an be healthy. It is interesting that all the TV channels do not support this as it actually means you are buying less McDonalds and Taco Bell.
A couple of points to also research.
A common theme people go on about is that they have to eat 2 grams of protein per pound of body weight. This is also currently being disproved as you can live on much less with out losing muscle mass if you are trying to lose weight.
A common thing that does seem correct is to move away from processed food. Do this slowly and it is sustainable. e.g. Decide to stop drinking caffienated drinks this should be your only health goal for one month. Think if you just achieved that? It would be a huge health achievement.
I fast for 20 hours a day and eat in a 4 hour window. I have more energy then I did. i appreciate food more and it is fantastic for will power. In the day I drink Black Coffee, Green Tea and Water with the juice of up to 2 lemons, I also take 6 bee pollen capsules for minerals and nutrients. When I start eating at 5pm I start with Almonds and 2 Bananas or 1/3 of a cup of raisins. Almonds contain Trytophan(spelling?) which triggers Serotonin to be built in the brain which keeps you happy. By having Raisins or Banana's with them it allows for quick absorbtion.
For dinner I eat what I want. I make a logical choice to something that is healthy. E.g. Mince, Mushrooms, Onions, Brown Rice and a sauce to make a risotto. I then may have a big bowl of fruit an hour later for desert.
I then go to bed 2 hours after and have a pepermint tea in that time.
I do resistance training at night for muscles and interval training between 6 am and 6.30 am. I went from 125kg to 115 kg in 3 weeks which is a big drop. I am happy with my routine but it will not work for most people. Remember most of losing weight is in your mind. until you can work out how to control your head and your chemical reactions it is going to be hard.
I recommend mattchurch.com for info on how chemicals in your body work or checking out pureinnovation.co.nz which has a few tips.

With the 1 meal a day system you body does not go in to stavation mode as such ( It is a terrible name by the way) Your body will adjust to a one neal a day system. Water alone starts your metabolism and by adding water, green tea and black coffee it will keep it going. Exercise starts your metabolism for god sake.
Exercise has been proven to be more effective when you are not full of food as well. There is also evidence to suggest that your body can expell more toxins when not having to digest as much.
Ketosis is what happens when you fast (Not Starve as that means no food ever mmk) It changes fat in to ketones for your brain to use.
THE MORAL OF MY RANT
everyone is different, 6 meals may work well for you, 1 meal for other, others are find doing 4 hours of exercise a day and eating like a pig. What is more important is what ever you are doing get the right vitamins and minerals as well as some protein.
Also to go slowly. You want to lose weight for life. Only make changes that are sustainable. I gave up booze for 3 months, then Smoking, then Coke and Energy Drinks, then milk and sugar in my coffee, Then started on the Green Tea and Almonds, Then on to 20 hour a day fasting, Then Exercise over an 5 month period. Don't rush the change is for life.
