Hi Annie. First, let me commend you on losing the 10 pounds. Now let me address the question you asked: "If my metabolism dead?" I have a section in my fitness eBook (found at www.fitnessbasics101.com) on this subject, but I will try to condense it for you.
Your metabolism may not be dead, but it is probably very, very, very slow. What most people do not realize is that eating habits like yours (you say you "barely eat anything at all") actually slows down the metabolism.
I am about to offer a suggestion that may sound really crazy, but it is a principle that has been tested and proven to work: Try eating 5 or 6 small meals throughout the day to boost your metabolism.
This may be a new, strange concept to you, but there is growing evidence that supports this lifestyle.
When we eat infrequently, the body can actually go into a type of "famine" mode. When this occurs, the endocrine system (that produces powerful harmones that contribute to growth, recovery, and energy level) is sent into disarray. As a result, too much of the food that is consumed is actually stored in the body as fat in preparation for the "famine" the body expects.
On the other hand, when more frequent, smaller meals are eaten, the blood sugar and insulin levels are usually better controlled and this definitely affects our energy level. Eating more frequent, smaller meals also provide protein in small amounts throughout the day and this supports body recovery that we need in an ongoing manner. And finally, when we eat more frequent, smaller meals, body fat will not be stored but rather will be mobilized as an energy source. In summary, when we supply the body with a frequent supply of a more balanced number of calories throughout the day, the need to store fat is reduced.
Some clients have told me that their work schedules would not allow them to eat like this, to which I have responded, "Are you allowed breaks during the day?" Almost everyone is given this privilege. Be creative and experiment with using your breaks more advantageously. Do some light stretches and different movements for a couple of minutes and then eat the nutritious "snack" you prepared. You and everyone else may be surprised and delighted with the outcome.
By the way, there are also delicious nutrition meals or snack supplements in powder form that can be mixed with water in a shaker. You might try these. This would also be an added great way to drink more water during the day, and staying hydrated is very important.
I hope this helps on your journey. Success to you.
