Can a dialysis patient eat sushi?

I know that every case has its own diet limitations, but I'm looking for the big answer

Can a dialysis patient eat a sushi meal from time to time?  (without soy sauce)

(Limitation for kidney patients: Salt (sodium),  potassium, and phosphorus.)

i love food... really any food

Yes, I think that a pretty plain sushi roll with just vegetables and fish would be fine, but I would ask a doctor to be sure.

I agree with hershalooey.  Within reason you can eat a small amount of just about anything while being a dialysis patient.  DO ask you nutritionist at the clinic.  Also ask for posters that Phoslo prints out to aid in your knowledge of the nutritional contents of the foods we eat.  Just because you're a dialysis patient doesn't mean you can't eat the things you like -- you only need to be careful.  Moderation is usually the key.  Talk with your Nutritionist.  They will be able to help you with that.  It is not enough to have a Nurse and the Techs take care of you three times a week.  YOU need to take care of you and KNOW your body and your diet.  If you can't do that, try and find someone who will help you with it.  It's a lot to know, I understand.  It's easier on your body if you eat the things that are healthier for you.

I am a dialysis patient...based on my pretty advanced knowledge of the renal diet, it is OK...as long as the ingredients inside are not high in phosphorus, potassium, and sodium...that would be my deciding factor.
