I quess I'm wondering why he carried on the relationship for six years without a degree or a career???  I woud'nt let him off the hook so easy by emailing him etc., maybe being "just a friend" works for him but it must be hard for you. If you are one of thoses people that are really centered perhaps being his friend will work. If your like most of us tell him he's a bastard for leading you on for six years and then breaking your heart. It won't do much, but it will make you feel better. It's natural to feel the way you do but it's time to cut your losses and get on with your life. Better he ended it now then give you a life of misery right?
