Be honest and be true to yourself.

Hi, If it was me, I would paint the room white. That's just my opinion.

If it were me, I would paint your walls a light, light grey. Like a Navy ship grey or a shade lighter than that. If that is the correct name for the color I am speaking of. Of have a spare bedroom with a light pink carpet and I wanted to paint the walls a very light khaki, so when I went to the paint store and gave the sales person the swatch for that color, I came home and started to paint. Well the person that mixed the paint did not mix it correctly and I ended up with the light grey color. It worked well with the light pink carpet, so I changed the decor for the rest of the room to go with the walls and carpet. That is my reasoning to you with you carpet and the mauve or burgundy decor that you have. I believe it will go well.

if you're daring, go with a burgundy on the walls.  dramatic.  stay away from pink!  other than that, some light greyish tone
