Are there any loan services known that make loans to non employed?I do not work.I am now retired. My sources of income are SSA, and VA benefits, and anunnity from Office of Personnel Management in Washington, DC. I have noticed in past, most applications state employed, or disability, retirement. In filling out of the form, it request employer, and related information rendering it impossible to finish this the story with every loan service I have tried. Any sources you may find, please advise me on where to find them.My advance thanks. My email is jaharknw@bellsouth.net

Try the bank where your savings are.  I have a friend on SSI disability who took out a mortgage for a first home, so I know your income stream is acceptable.

Borrowing is usually a bad idea.  You have to pay the money back with interest, and on a fixed income that is difficult unless the loan is for something that cuts your long term expenses (like my friend's mortgage versus paying rent).

When you get to the part of the forms that asks about employment, just write 'retired'.  Skip any questions you don't have an honest answer for.  They (loan originators) are not concerned about employment, they are concerned about your ability to repay them.

Why do you need the loan, may I ask?

Questions for loans usually pertain to income as opposed to your employment. There are a lot of people with income and no jobs that are eligible for loans everyday. If you have a home and are struggling you may be eligible to change the rate and term on your existing mortgage. You would not have to refinance your home or take out another loan for this. I dont think that you could get a loan if you are not employed. Their are some loans and government grants for Retired people, but their is a lot of requirements to be eligible for them.

The best place to get a loan is to contact your bank, if you have a good record with them they could probably help you get one from them.
