4 years are more than enough (in any case) to know a person.....  I believe that with a sharp eye one can know a person within a week..... and all the rest is to make sure one was right..... however not all humans are alike, and not all dates wuth the same output (some dates get close at the same evening and others get close after much more time).....

Karma's a b*tch.

Four years is definitely a significant amount of time. But sometimes no amount of time is enough to really know a person. I dated a guy for almost 7 years and when the relationship ended, it was like I really didn't know who I'd been with all those years.

I would hope so, but ask yourself if you have opened yourself up pretty fully and if your partner has done the same. If you have, you'll know it, and you'll know one another. You should feel trust and love, if it is to be!

Hi,

    Four years is way too long to get to know another person.  Ideally 2 years is enough time.  By then one would have found out the other's strengths, weaknesses, moral values, ideals,dreams and aspirations.  After that one could tell if he/she could live and tolerate this person for a long long time.
