The chandelier should be hung no less than the distance from the floor if it were a one storied ceiling and possible a bit higher. If you hang it too high you will not get desirable light intensity and not enjoy looking at it.

Its never too late to ask.

First, a chandelier is hung from the ceiling not from the floor. Call or email Lamps Plus for the rest of your answer.
