Casillas is indeed an excellent goalkeeper, but I think Petr Cech, who currently plays for Chelsea Football Club in England, is the best keeper today. Casillas suffers from instability from time to time, and Cech is not only more talented, but also much more consistent and reliable.

I'm too young to remember Yashin. I grew up knowing that Yashin is a myth, but I never had a real chance to form an opinion of my own. The greatest keeper I had the pleasure to see for myself is Peter Schmeichel.

Hi Grace,


I have no doubt: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid, Spain).  I have been watching him from 1999 and I am sure he is THE greatest current goalkeeper....  He is still very young and no doubt he will break the record of appearance in rhe Spanish international team.  Here is a nice pic.   
 
The best ever goalkeeper was Lev Yashin (Russia) passed several years ago.

Hi, 

I have to go with Peter Cech. He hasn't been getting enough credit in his current football club, Chelsea, but he's simply phenomenal.

I believe this young goal keeper still has many great years ahead of him and I'm looking forward to seeing him give many more great games.

I happen to like Iker Casillas as a goalkeeper and think he´s got potential but to be objective and to go with the statistics, I have to agree with you guys and give my thumbs up to Peter Cech as he´s been nominated best goalkeeper in the world:o) Keep up the good job Casillas, maybe you can be the best goalkeeper next year!:o)

All the goal keepers mentioned are great but I really think Buffon is #1.

I've seen amazing stuff from Buffon: Quick reaction, great field reading, good skills as a sweeper and an imposing presence. He would get my vote.

Casillas has been highly responsible of keeping goals out of Real Madrid's side. A close second.
