Why do current Lebanese Pounds banknotes contain a barcode? Why is there a barcode on Lebanese notes 5,000 Pounds through 100,000 Pounds but none on the current 1,000 Pounds notes? Does the Lebanese government produce their own currency or does a private bank?
Personal thoughts: I hate barcodes and believe the current design of the Lebanese Pound is among the ugliest and scariest looking currencies of the world. Old currency from Lebanon was quite beautiful. I suggest that Lebanon restores the integrity and beauty of their money to the way it looked years ago.
To say nothing, especially when speaking, is half the art of diplomacy.
This is the best answer I could find. It is from the Bank of Lebanon.
Yes, I went to their web site too but this does not answer my question because they do not explain it in their literature. Thank you for trying though!
