How to crochet afghan that starts and ends with a corner

I am trying to start the crocheted afghan that starts with a square or rather a corner and then ends with it too, it isn't a square though like a granny square, you get it as big as you want it  and then you start decreasing but you do ths same thing all the way after you end each row, you turn and keep going, if I had a pic maybe of how to start it, I could do it, just can not start it. I can not rememebr how to start it, I know you chain so many, about 4 or 5 and dbl crochet in each one I think and then ch 4 or 5 again and dbl crochet in each and then you have these two little pieces and you turn one over and then I can't remember what you do... I am stuck, please help if anyone remembers this one! Thanks sooo much!!

Debbie

Always know what you want.

Try checking in your local craft stores to see if they have groups that teach this type of knitting. Best of luck.

The stitch you are looking for is called "Diagonal Box Stitch".  You can find it on the website below.  I love this stitch and use it for manyy of my afghans designs.  I use my grid (800) 'Paint' program on my computer to work my designs and colors.  You're going to love this stitch.  It works up rather quickly.  I would suggest you make a sample first to get used to the decrease process. I made my sample using 12 blocks.  This tutorial uses two colors so you can see the stitch changes better.  This is the site I used to learn the stitch.

OK if ur talking about a granny square how it is done is you chain 4 join in last chain to make a loop then u chain 3 which counts as a double crochet then in circle do 2 dc then chain 1 then do 3 dc in circle then chain 1 3 dc ch1 3 dc ch 1 u schould of 4 groups of dc and 4 ch1 space. when u do the last chain 1 u slipstich in 3 chain where u chained 3 wich is the top of the chain 3. ok then u chain 3 and turn then in the chain 1 space u put 2dc in it because rember the ch3 counts as a dc then u chain 1 in same space u put 3 more dc u contine this step all around and for each rd  i hope i helped.
