I am on SSD with fixed income. I have always paid ...

I am on SSD with fixed income. I have always paid my credit card on time and had not maxed out. I reserved it to buy gas to go to the doctor, or buy medicine or pay for car repairs. I tried to use my card the other day for gas purchase, it would not go through. I call the company and they had canceled. I do not have the money to pay in full or offer a cash settlement. What should I do?

Kay the answer I think is that many credit companies are cancelling cards regardless of reasons.  They can and will...  As to paying off your balance.. you call and try to settle.  I would ask to speak to someone high on the food chain at the company, if you know what I mean.  Most companies try to get something cause its better than nothing.  If they agree to any terms and you agree then make sure you stick to them.  Make sure you get in writing everything that is agreed or offered to you.  Just to cover yourselve.  In the meantime, I would pay what you can afford and then they cant say you haven't been trying or making at least, an effort.  The interest is gonna be very high so the sooner you can get this worked out the better off you are going to be.
