Here is what I know about growing iguanas. They are not easy pets to maintain.
Iguanas are not clean animals. They leave droppings all over, and this causes a risk of disease for the other members of the house (if you have small kids it is especially critical). They are territorial, and often bite, so it is best to keep them in a terrarium. Take into account that they can grow quite big, so you might end up with a terrarium that takes up half your house. Iguanas need very specific conditions of humidity, temperature, light etc.
Iguanas are herbivores, so you can feed it vegetables. The vegetables should be chopped up into small pieces that it can swallow easily because iguanas don't chew. I'm not sure about all the dietary needs of iguanas, but I do know that if they do not get enough vitamins, minerals etc in their food they get sick very easily.
