There's a Twitter Fan Wiki  with a long list of Twitter Toys for various operating systems and environments.  My favorite is twitterbar, a Firefox extension that lets me type tweets into the address bar.  But there are many there I have not tried!

Wow... that's a wonderful list. Thank you!

You are right, twitterbar is very useful. Much nicer than the Twitter Search Plugin, which seems kinda scary.

The one that made me laugh though was the Twitter Quotient thingie :)

I had to stop after a while for fear of not doing my work, but I fully intend to go back and check out these toys later on today...

If you are using a portable computer (laptop) and connect to WiFi hotspots in different places (coffee shops, office, libraries, public areas etc.) then you can use a cool software tool from WeFi.com -

When you register with WeFi, you can enter your Twitter ID, and then every time you connect to a WiFi hotspot, it will automatically tweet a message about that, something like "SearchJane has just connected the Internet from Starbucks, Union Square, San-Francisco".

It is still in Beta so there are some things to improve, but it is really cool.

Stand behind our troops or stand in front of them!

No offense to anyone, but I couldn't stop laughing when I first heard about twittering tweets tweeting their twitters up and down the blog. I actually had to look it up on Wikipedia to see what tweet and twitter actually meant. God bless Wikipedia!! Twitter is a social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users' updates (known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length. Updates are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends (delivery to everyone being the default). Users can send and receive updates via the Twitter website, SMS, RSS (receive only), or through applications such as Tweetie, Twitterrific, and Feedalizr. The service is free to use over the web, but using SMS may incur phone services provider fees.

Check out the Lizzer bookmarklet - it's  free tool that makes it easy, fun, and fast to find content and tweet it. You can add links to the web, images, YouTubes, and even docstoc documents with just one click. Also, Lizzer will automatically shorten the URL so you get the most of your 140 characters on Twitter.

p.s. it also works right here - in Yedda. Check it out at http://lizzer.com
