The Asparagus Festival Cookbook contains many recipies from Asparagus Food. Recipes range from soups, through main dishes, and on to breads and desserts.  I love asparagus, but always had a problem with overcooking it. This pot

All-Clad Stainless Asparagus Pot with Steamer Basket solves the problem well.

Yes, the annual Stockton Asparagus Festival (in Stockton, California) puts out an asparagus cookbook which has numerous recipes from appetizers through desserts (even asparagus margaritas).

If you steam asparagus, a steamer pot (tall and skinny, with a basket insert) is your best bet. (Note: It is also great for corn on the cob).

Our favorite recipe from the Asparagus Festival cookbook is 'Pan Roasted Asparagus.'

Simply toss the spears in a little olive oil and place on a roasting pan (a jelly roll pan works great). Sprinkle with a little sea salt and fresh ground pepper and roast at 425 degrees Fahrenheit. It won't take long - no more than ten minutes, depending upon the thickness of the spears (often a lot less).

Serve with a squeeze or two of fresh lemon, if desired.

P.S. It is not necessary to peel or cut asparagus. Merely hold one stalk of asparagus in two hands (one end in each hand) and bend gently. It will snap at its natural breaking point. Discard the root end and repeat with the remaining spears. Rinse and prepare as specified in your recipe of choice.

Wash and trim off ends. Place on broiler-proof plate or pan. Drizzle with a little extra virgin olive oil, sprinkle with herbs of your choice and with a lille shredded parmesan cheese. Broil for 8 - 10 minutes. Delicious!

Your direction, not your intention, determines your destination

How about in a salad with boiled eggs, crisp bacon in bite size pieces,Cheeses of your choice with rings of red onion, what ever you like in your salad with a light vinegar dressing and buttery crackers. Don't overcook the asparagus, you want it a little crispy.

You could steam them or cook them in boiling water... And make a holandaise cream sauce to put on it.

Great in a stir fry, Asparagus Quiche, Asparagus and CRAB go well together, Cream of Asparagus soup (yum!), Souffle, the list is endless... and, of course, as stated here, steamed and then sauteed in Olive Oil with sea salt, garlic and a squeeze of fresh lemon.

Oh Lord, JK!  You got me!  I am ROFLMAO.  It's CRAB... although, in a sort of eccentric way, asparagus and crap(as in the meaning, 'stuff') might be an interesting conversation starter.

LOL!
