How can I convert a california king bed to a king?

How can I convert a california king wooden bed frame to a king size mattress? I have a headboard and foot board attached by wooden side rails. The side rails have hooks to attach to the headboard and footboard. We support the mattress with a king bed frame. Problem is there is a gap at the bottom (or top) of the bed and the wooden side rails tend to pop up and off. Is there a solution less than cutting the rails?

Did You get an answer- I am curious, too! We are thinking of getting a suite from a relative that is a California King, but we have a King mattress.

You're the first to respond.  Currently, I stuffing the bottom with a body pillow and pulling that spread over it.  Not very good!

I would like to have a calif. King size bed frame for my ca. King mattress. I now just have the metal frame with a very poor head board. I hate it.

The Cal King is narrower and longer than a Standard King size.. the difference is about 4 in. long and wide..

We are just going to attach the side rails to the outside of the headboard (using L brackets and cut the length of the side rails to make it not as long..

Good luck!
