Are there any considerations when knitting clothes for new born babies? I know I can knit little baby booties and blankets but obviously I want to check on any dangers before I knit using some type of wool that maybe dangerous or irritable.
I always make sure that what I knit for children and newborns is washable as any garment that touches a child is washed frequently.

I don't use expensive yarns when kitting for infants. Usually they don't get too much use out of a sweater. So when i knit, iknit with inexpensive yarns that are washable. Babies stain the clothes when they spit up and sometimes you can't get the stain out. Acrlyc washes well. Michael's has a great selection. Lion brand and mary maxim are two that iuse most of the time. It's much cheaper to buy in these stores than to buy on line. On line can cost you $3.99 a skein plus postage. Michael's carries the exact same yarn for $2.47 a skein and no postage involved.
I hope this helped you.

when Knitting for a new born do not use wool yarn. They may be allergic, it is best to use acrylic cotton etc.
Infants grow very fast and rarely stay in a size long. Wool requires knowledge to wash and block properly, a desire, and time to do so. New mothers rarely have either. Use acrylic "BABY Yarn." You will rarely find wool baby yarn and if you do avoid it. It probably won't get worn more than once and if it does may not survive washing.
