Is there any connection between sleep deprivation and losing your sight.

I use to work during the nights for a year , I did not sleep much then and when I did it was usually around the afternoon. Since then my eye sight as deteriorated , is there any connection between sleep deprivation and losing your sight.

As far as I know, sleep deprivation does not affect eyesight (in extreme cases of sleep deprivation, people have reported seeing hallucinations, but that usually happens only after being awake for long periods like over 40 hours).

Many people develop eye problems over time, and their eyesight deteriorates. A major factor in eyesight deterioration is eye strain. It is possible that during the period that you weren't getting enough sleep you were also suffering from chronic eyestrain, and this is what caused your eyesight to get worse.

Wink

There is no connection between the two. This might just be a sign of vision failing somewhat as we age. Get an appointment with a reputable eye doctor and have your family doctor check you out aswell. Good luck.
