It sounds as if your husband should have a semen analysis so that you will know whether this is the problem.

With regard to a fibroid, ask your doctor. Sometimes they get in the way and sometimes they do not.

Since you have a child before your marriage, perhaps your husband should definitely be tested to see if he has a low sperm count or anything else that might prevent you from conceiving. It’s really important when you’re trying to get pregnant to chart your ovulation cycle to calculate the best time to try to conceive.  One thing you can use is a Basel body thermometer which helps you to chart your body temperature.  You should also pay attention your body cues which can predict ovulation such as a clear mucous appearing before ovulation.   There are some simple tips you can always try to increase your chances that you can find here:

http://www.womans-health.net/tips-on-trying-to-get-pregnant.htm   First, you might try taking pre-natal vitamins to get your body ready for pregnancy.  Another thing you can do when having sex is to try the missionary position and even place a pillow under your hips.  This allows sperm to stay in the vagina longer.  You can find everything you need to know about trying to conceive in the above article.  I hope this helps!
