The concepts of choosing contacts on yedda

Timesoftrouble, before I go any further with your request, I would like to know why would you choose me as a contact when (if you have followed any of my comments) it is clear that we are night and day different in our spiritual beliefs?

Did you ever think that maybe that is the exact reason why Timesoftrouble has asked you to be a contact? A difference of opinions is a cause for discussion and it makes things more interesting!

Sometimes people select you as a Contact so they will be able to easily find your answers or keep track of where you are on Yedda.

It doesn't really have anything to do with agreeing with you - or even liking you!

You don't have to reciprocate, and it doesn't really matter who has you as a Contact. Anyone who has a modicum of computer knowledge can find you and your Yedda answers quite easily.

If that bothers you, Yedda is probably not the best place to be.

Caxie...  I understand and under normal circumstances would appreciate a good discussion with most people.  However, when it comes the posts made by Timesoftrouble, there leaves little room for discussion.  They are more like sermons from a church pulpit.

jkgrandma...  I understand about being able to find/follow people on Yedda because I already do it myself.  Only I do it as a way of avoiding certain questions/discussions where I know specific people will be.  If someone wants to list me as a contact, then fine, it's not that it bothers me.  I posted the message to Timesoftrouble so as to speak with him about his choice because in the overall, I do not think he will be as accepting of my views as I am of his.  I do enjoy interacting here on Yedda and I want to keep it that way.

Gotcha.

So you think perhaps s/he will respond and explain what prompted adding you as a Contact? Your idea is as good a way to figure that out as anything else I've seen! I'll be interested to see if it works, there have been people over the months who have added me as a Contact and I've never understood their reasoning.

Unlike your situation (where I guess you two have actually conversed, or at least been on the same question), I've had people add me as a Contact when I've no idea of who they are and cannot find any questions we have in common.

It sometimes feels a little strange, doesn't it.

jkgrandma...  Funny thing is, no I don't think he'll respond.  I feel as if this is an exercise in learning if nothing else (chuckles) but oh well.  About your comment "It sometimes feels a little strange. Doesn't it?"  I say yes, more than a little strange depending on who the other person is.
